Teacher's Lounge Meetings | Join Now
We hold "Teachers' Lounge" workshops once a week, on
At our meetings, we focus on discovering and testing solutions to specific problems confronting us with respect to critical social justice programming in our schools. These meetings are workshop environments, where a brain trust of educators propose options, strategize, and debrief the outcomes of actions they take in the field.
Meetings take place virtually. Practicing K-12 teachers, tutors, and prospective teachers all are eligible for invitation. Attendance is free, and anonymity and confidentiality are respected.
If you'd like to join, please apply here, or send us an email contact@tfteach.org with any questions about the process. We recommend that all interested teachers apply using a personal email account. Once we receive your message, we will ask that you schedule a short introductory meeting with leadership, in order to establish and sustain trust between new and existing members of the network.
Types of problems we address include:
- How best can we add broader perspectives to the one-sided programming schools are pushing on our students?
- Coping with & resisting ideological/identity-focused bullying in DEI or critical social justice training, on ourselves, colleagues, and students.
- Union issues, local and state laws that help or hamper our mission.
- Contesting inappropriate material, filing a grievance
- When--and how--to speak up at faculty meetings
- Handling pressure to conform to critical social justice from admin or department heads
- Difficulties interacting with colleagues who are promoting a critical social justice agenda
- How to be most effective working with like-minded parents and others in the community
Acceptance into our network also grants access to a membership platform where you can post questions for the network at any time and receive a quick response.
We welcome all teachers eager to contribute to this work, by sharing their experience and generating positive solutions for network members. Join us!
To ensure confidentiality is respected, we conduct short interviews with all participants prior to attendance. Please contact us. We'd love to connect you.
