EQUIPPING EDUCATORS

Bans, Boundaries, and Balance: What Can('t) I Say in the Classroom?

Many teachers are rightfully concerned about what they can and can’t say in a K-12 classroom; this session provides clear, understandable legal guardrails and legal cases that can increase their confidence while reminding them of the limits of educator speech.

Pedagogy, Not Ideology

Ideology increasingly takes center-stage in the classroom. This workshop will cover why pedagogy must outweigh ideology, with reasons ranging from philosophical and pedagogical to emotional, developmental, democratic, and ethical.

Educator Ethics: A Principled Refresher

With many schools struggling to restore communication and trust between teachers and parents, this workshop provides a refresher on codes of professional ethics governing the teaching profession, along with an overview of student, teacher, and parental rights.

Classroom Climate: Adjusting Your Thermostat for Student Flourishing

Is your classroom icy, sweltering, or –hopefully – somewhere in between? Learn how to adjust your classroom thermostat in order to optimize learning and improve student experiences and outcomes.

EMPOWERING STUDENTS

Empowering American Students

The heavy focus on cultural criticism and pessimism in K-12 has become disproportionate, and could be contributing to rising rates of anxiety, depression, and discouragement among young people. This workshop provides an uplifting antidote to counterbalance classroom negativity with appropriate levels of optimism, encouragement, and empowering cultural messaging, including appropriate patriotism.

The Importance of Learning Freely

The ability to think and learn freely is foundational to raising successful citizens capable of self-government. This workshop will cover key principles for developing independent thinkers and building the mental habits that will prepare students to thrive in a free, democratic society.

Fostering Agency, Persistence, and Resilience in Young People

Drawing from psychological findings, this training will cover what is known about how teachers can equip and empower young people to cope with life’s challenges and inevitable adversity, and how to handle challenges and overcome setbacks.

Building Communication Competence in Students and Classrooms

Students can be trained in better communication skills that will serve them in school now and in life after graduation. From casual small talk to navigating academic arguments and handling disagreements, this session draws from counseling and effectiveness training to provide a framework for fostering better classroom conversations.
